How can I import fans into my BandHub?

To save you time, we have created two ways to quickly upload multiple fans to your BandHub’s Fan Database: CSV and bulk email addresses.

CSV

A CSV file [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comma-separated_values] is a universal file format used to move contact details from one program to another (e.g. from your email address book, to your BandHub fan database). The file resembles a spreadsheet, and Excel files can easily be converted into this format.

To upload a CSV file of fan contact details, you can either create a brand new file, or export a file from your email address book.

Creating a new CSV file

We have a Sample CSV File that you can download via Fans > Import Fans. Using this file as a guide, you can easily transfer any information from a spreadsheet file (if you have 1000 fan emails kicking around on an Excel file, for example) onto the new document. When you save the file, ensure it’s filename extension is .csv.

Exporting your email contacts into a CSV file

Almost all major web-based email services (Gmail, Yahoo!, Hotmail, etc.) as well as major Mac and PC computer-based email clients (Outlook, Mail, Entourage), enable the CSV file format for exporting and importing contacts.
To import all of your Gmail contacts, for example, into your BandHub's Fan Database you need to firstly export your Gmail address book into the CSV file format, and save it to your computer. (Though it obviously differs from one email client to another, the path to find this feature is usually under 'settings' or 'contacts/address book', and the language is usually 'export'. Also, with most email clients, you will be able to review the addresses before you export them, so you aren’t bringing in irrelevant email addresses.)

Uploading a CSV file

In your BandHub, go to Fans > Import Fans, ensure that CSV File is checked as the Import From option, select the CSV file of contacts that you have just created, decide whether or not you would like to send a validation email, and then hit Import These Fans.
After this you will be taken to a new page to review the contacts. Hit Save these fans to confirm.

No tinkering is required and, once you’re done, you should see all of the new fans listed in your Fan Database.

Bulk email addresses

Under ‘Fans’>‘Import Fans’, check off ‘Email Addresses’ under ‘Import From’. This opens up a free text box that you can type into directly, titled ‘Fan email addresses’. Here you can enter in a large number of email addresses, and upload them all in one go.
NB: Enter each email on a new line! Decide whether or not you would like to send a validation email, and then hit ’Import These Emails’. And you’re done!
